If I recall correctly both kits have the rear upper hull hatches incorrectly slanted rather than parallel with the vehicle centerline and the periscopes associcated with them are mislplaced.
SP Designs do replacement upper hull with this correction.

The DML roadwheels are hollow on the back side, while the ESCI ones are solid and have reverse side detail.

I believe both kits have the wrong number of spokes on the drive sprockets, 5 instead of 6 (or is it the other way around..)

Esci has the earlier non-applique armor version.

DML does the applique plain-jane and the standoff-armoured "Afhgan war" version with mineplow.

One kit was modified from the other by the same tooling company, similar tot he BMP-1's from both companies. I believe the Esci kit is the elder of the two, but I am not certain.

As mentioned, the upper hull and turret should be replaced for accuracy, but both are ok OOB if you do not mind the canted upper troop doors. Main gun flash suppressor is incorrectly shaped. It is "wavy" and should be straight edged.

Both kits were good in their day, and both are still good to build OOB, but they are dated kits that both companies "cut their teeth" on, especially DML.
