Hi guys,
Does anyone know if Veitnam Chopper pilots pants had the big pockets at the side? American Huey pilots during the vietnam war to be specific.

It depends on when you are depicting. Early in the war, pilots wore the standard jungle fatiges which did have large cargo pockets on the outer legs. Later, the flight suit became popular, which doesn't have the external cargo pockets.

The two piece Nomex (fireproof, or more likely 'flameproof'...) flyer's outfit had pockets on the legs of the pants, but these are not as large as those on the fatigues and configured differently.
What you want to depict will depend on the era.
Nomex clothing was introduced from the middle of the 'war' and continued in use right through to the end.

Thanks for the help guys.
So in that case, would it be possible for pilots of the same chopper to have different pants - as in one using the jungle fatigues and the other a flight suit?

It is possible, but not likely. Usually, members of teh same unit all wear the same basic uniform.

Hi Sonny,
here is one of the best Nam heli-sites on the net:
http://www.vhpamuseum.org/defaultmenu.shtml
put in an LRRP search there and some articles/photos will come up with unit ID's, there are a lot of unit and misc. photos too with description, some mentioning coop with LRRPs, you got to go through them... (it worths it, helmetart, personal items etc!!!)
Here is a site for LRRPs, must-see photos, same as with the above site, search photos, articles for transport units:
http://www.lcompanyranger.com/
Hope it helps
