Does anyone have pictures of the tools that are attached on the roof of the M113A2 and A3 models, behind the large troop hatch? I need a painting guide, as the Tamiya instructions don't call out any colors (they just tell you to paint them the same colors as the hull). Thanks!

You would be safe to paint them olive/dark green. I've even seen the axe's, sledge's, etc, with natural wood handles, and the heads were painted black. Don't forget it was common for these tools to be repainted frequently too. Hope this helps.

I agree with Randy. The tools can be in any combination of colors. I have even seen commercial replacement tools with the yellow, red, or blue fiberglass handles. The crew repaints them often so they are new and clean looking for inspections. The most common colors would be flat black metal parts with OD green handles, bare wood handles, or overall flat black or OD. As you can see, flat black and OD are the easiest colors to get from the supply system in a spray can.

Thanks, guys. I still wish I had a picture of the tools, since I don't know what to do with the long rods that are clamped next to the axe and sledgehammer. That said, with your info I'll just paint them OD.

I think those long rods might be tanker bars Lucas
