I am adding Stowage for the first time to my Stug III Ausf. G. Now I am a bit confused on the colors to be used for the stowage (i.e. Crates, Tarps, Fuel Drums). What color should I base coat, and what colors should I wash and drybrush with? Any help would be appreciated.

Tiger1, I would paint the tarps and fuel drums in field gray and then wash them with dark gray or black. Then I would give them a decent drybrushing with lighter gray. As far as the crates I would probably paint them brown as to simulate wood. Then give them a burn umber wash and again drybrush in a lighter brown.

I agree with Marty, just to add a little detail....Take your base color, and after your wash, drybrush with the base color. Then, get yourself something to mix the paint on, and gradually add white to the base. Drybrushing with each step of base mixed with white. Go a little on the light side with your steps of base + white, then take a bottle full of thinner and add a few drops of base color and lightly airbrush this wash over the gear.....it adds a nice contast to everything. I also like to add a touch of dark greens or browns to the drybrush mix to give it a subtle difference betwen the vehicle weathering and the tones of the equipment. Good luck and be sure and post some pics of the final product!
God bless our troops, and pray for their quick and safe return.
