I want to do a M60 with IDF markings, which is the best kit to get?
Thanks

The Italeri (ex-Esci) M60 Blazer is the best on the market. The Academy IDF M60s are pretty good as well, but not as good as the Italeri model.

If you mean an M60 slick, then there a few alternatives out there for you. Stay away from AEF Designs version. Even better, save your money and convert one using a Tamiya or Academy M48 turret as a basis.

I agree with Gino, the Esci kit works out the best. You still can find them cheap enough on eBay.

M60 Blazer $15.00

My 2 copper Lincolns regarding the Academy and Esci/Italeri M60s: The Italeri kit has a much better, one-piece hull and more accurate suspension, although I'm not crazy about the styrene tracks. I like the Academy kit for the turret, cupola and gun mounts, but it does need some work regarding the multi-piece hull (seams...urgh!) and suspension bugaboos (shocks to suspension arms, come in please). Also, I've found the older Esci/Ertl releases to be not quite as crisp as the newer Italeri issues, so if you get one, be prepared for that, and a little flash cleanup.

The Italeri kit is more accurate, the Academy kit has nicer detail in some areas, and really...either one of them will turn out a nice finished product with a little extra work.

Jim Carswell did an article comparing the Tamiya, Esci/Italeri and Academy M60A1 kits a while back, and you can find it here.

Happy building.
