Hi all
Does any body have any real good reference material for the M106 (M113 mortar carrier). I,m looking for information regarding mainly the interior and how good is the Tamiya kit to convert to a more modern version.
also how good is the Eduard P/E for the Tamiya kit as i think they do a exterior and interior set
many thanks in advance
cheers

The Tamiya kit is pretty accurate for an M106A1 or M106A2 (with some additions and changes). It has the 4.2" (107mm) mortar installed. The A2 version was used up through the mid '90s, when it was replaced by the M1064A3. If you are wanting to do a modern version, it is the M1064A3 w/120mm mortar. For a good M1064A3 conversion, check out the MR models conversion set.
For references, there are a few shots of M106A1 interiors from Google Images. I believe Prime Portal has some M1064A3 pics as well.
I have the Eduard M106A1PE. I haven't used it yet. I plan on using some of it on another M1064A3 (the last one was for a customer), and some on my M106A2 as an update.
I have built both an M106A2 an M1064A3.

Thanks Gino
I had search prime portal but couldn't find any pictures of the M106, thanks for the info on the MR conversion, that could save quite a bit of time, does it come with the A3 rear fuel tanks as part of the conversion kit?
I have been sent a couple of pictures that have diorama build written all over them
as a side note do you know of a ACAV conversion set for the main Coppola
cheers
Keith

The MR set does come with the external rear fuel tanks, and all other parts to convert the Tamiya M106 into an M1064A3. I think Verlinden did an ACAV shield set. The ACAV shields also come in the Academy M113A1 and M113A2 kits, and the Tamiya M113A2 kit as well (along with the old Tamiya M113 ACAV kit).
By the way, I found the MR M1064A3 conversion set to be cheapest, even with postage, from Accurate Armour out of Scotland. Verlinden and other stateside suppliers were much more expensive for me. I don't know about other suppliers on your side of the pond.
Great pics too.
Good luck.

Are you doing a M106A? or a M1064A3?
I'm assuming a M1064A3 based on your ACAV question. Those bits come in a few of the Academy M113 kits.

If no joy on your side of the pond then I've got cupola shield spares from the Zelda and Fitter kits.
