Can some one explain when these scissor mounts came into use by the Marines. Imagine an extended scissor mount then blasting away, wouldn't things get a bit lively?

Also found what I've been looking for for a while now a joy stick in a HMMWV turret! Could this be a motorized electric turret?

These images thanks to Frenchy the image detective, thanks Frenchy.

Looks like the same mount you find on a LAV-25. Don't know when they started using them though.

I've never even seen them on LAV-25's, this is new to me. Anyone have a picture of a LAV with this mount?
Thanks for the quick responses.

All pics from the official USMC site. I'm sure there are a lot more. Continue the search here.

Seems like the Platt scissors mount is on every LAV-25 in and since the first OIF - what was that, 2003? Not only visible on the interweb pics, but in the Hard Corp Models books as well. Aussie LAVS use them too.

It is indeed. They're pretty much standard on 1151's, 1152's, and 1165's. This is one I took in an 1114. What else do you need pics of?

Thanks all for the information on the Platt Mount, I have learned something new (again).

Thanks Frenchy
Bravo18 there you are, I was wondering where you'd gone..;o)
Great shot of the joystick in the turret. What shots would I like, well there seems to be a lack of good 1151/52's and 1165's (there are a few mind you) but what I'd really like to see is the new 1152P1 HMMWV ambulance. Other than that just more newer HMMWV turret configurations.
Thanks to all for linking photos they are a great help to understanding the details.
