Heya, Folks,
I'm no expert (nor do I play one on television), but if I am not mistaken,Cape Gloucester was the only time the Marines fielded the M4A1 Sherman...
Is there anyone out there who can confirm that this particular model would be accurate for that particular campaign? And who makes AM sets of three bar steel cleat tracks in 35th?
Anyone have an idea as to what the markings --- minimal, I'm sure.
Thanks!
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.

Johnny B. ,
I believe you are right about Cape Gloucester being the only time the Marines used the M4A1. The Tasca model has the M34 gun mantlet you need to replace it with a M34A1 Mantlet. Formations makes one, M34A1 Mantlet and M3 75mm Gun—$8 Kit #F016. The photos in "Marine tank battles in the Pacific" shows that these were 1st Tank Bn tanks. Mostly A company. One photo shows that the turret stars look like they were painted over to cover them up. The other markings look to be white numbers at the sides of the bustle, toward the top, in scale these numbers would probably be 1/8-3/16 of an inch in size. On the rear engine access doors an A on the left door with the number on the right. These are probably about 1/4-3/8 in scale size. One other photo shows a small number on the left front side of the turret but none of the other photos show the tank's number anywhere but on the bustle and engine doors like I said before. Tank numbers that are in the picture are 2, 3, 5, 13 and the one with the tank number on the front left of turret looks like 9.
I see no marking on the sides of the hulls. However early war army markings are light blue and blend in well in black and white photos. I mention this because some of the Marines first tanks were army tanks given to them with the light blue serial numbers on the sides of the hulls.
AFV Club makes the T49 track which is the 3 bar cleat track. I'm no expert either but I'll help anyway I can.
