Does anyone know who makes a good set for 1/35 scale?

DML has an Iwo Jima Japanese figure set.

They are also included in their "Windtalkers" set as well.

It includes 4 US Marines (their Iwo Jima Marines, below), the 4 Japanese Infantry, and one resin figure of Nicolas Cage's character from the movie.

Tamiya had an old Japanese Infantry set too. I believe they were recently re-issued.

Verlinden and Warriors have a bunch and Fine Molds has a few sets too; all in resin. Go to the top of the page and put Japanese figures into the Great Models Search bar (top center, green word, Search ) and you will get a bunch of options.

I'm using Airfix's 1/32 Japanese Multipose set at the moment. Although the figures might be a bit large compared to other 1/35 sets, they are very versitile and high quality.

While I'm still waiting for them to arrive, I recently ordered these figures through my local hobby shop.
I have a picture of a USMC DUKW on Iwo Jima that had, only moments before, engaged a group of Japanese infantry that, based on the position of the bodies, appears to have been making a bonsai charge and cut them down with the, still smoking .30 cal.
I have already completed the DUKW and eventually hope to construct a diorama illustrating the battle depicted in this photo moments before the picture was taken, when the Japanese were charging the DUKW and the Marines were valiantly defending their position.

I have had the pleasure of using the following sets:
Tamiya Japanese infantry set:
The sculpt quality is still very relevant though it could be sharper. The pose is reminiscent of the WW2 Malaya campaign and I am quite certain the reference for the poses were from footage there. As there is achoice of interchangeable steel hats and cloth caps, the variation of pose is possible with a bit of reworking and putty. You can still get this set in good hobby shops as Tamiya had rereleased them recently. A drawn katana and hand held mortar is part of the weapons accessory set.
DML Iwo JIma Japanese soldiers.
A good set of 4 soldiers which is very rare and quite hard to find. Was rereleased a couple of years back I think during the Windtalkers movie release. Details are finer than the Tamiya production . Weapon set includes a hand held pistol and katana. Worked together with the Tamiya set will give you a wide choice of poses. Injection mold and affordable
Airfix multipose: (1:32)
An early release and current reissue is now half the sprue count. What used to be 16 figures is now down to 8. Details are a bit oversized but nevertheless I had a lot of fun with this set. Worked best with the Desert rat set in an all out infantry hand to hand bayonet scene. Injection mold and affrodable
Finemolds
New release are their tank crews. Injection mold and slightly pricier.
Resin kits
sorry, no experience here though Legend and verlinden had some good figs in their catalogue.

I only got 6 Japs in my Airfix multipose kit which was the latest re-release. The good thing though is that just about every model shop sells them dirt cheap... and you can combine them with parts from other kits in some cases.
