I'm going to do a build-log on the new AFV Club M41G (NATO).At first look the kit has clean molding & no flash on it what so ever. The kit is molded in OD plastic, and comes with (4) German & (1) Belgium Decal markings.
As for this build all make a German marked Tank.

Starting,With the finders and cleaning them and then gluing them in place.the fit is clean and strate forward.

Cheers.
Mike.

Very cool looking tank the M41. Didn't know the Germans used a non German tank. Maybe that's why it isn't named after a cat.

The Germans and many other NATO countries used American equipment after WWII, the americans sent military aid all over. Mostly M47s and M41s, France, Germany even Japan used these vehicals during the early cold war.

Here is some more of my M41G (NATO) build, there are some things to be aware of. There are lots of VERY SMALL parts on the trees, So when cutting (B 16) be careful of (B 7) Tool Box Handles as I was not and spent over 25 mins looking for it on the carpet.
Glue (A 17) in place and SNAP (E5) Tow Cable Hooks into place,I first tried doing it the way the instructions said, after some time I felt it would work better with (A 17) in a solid position, And it was easier that way.

The Lower Hull suspension when together very fast, here again there are SMALL parts to be aware of manly (E10,11,12,).Parts (E16,17)Front Return Wheel Arms have a connecting arm that must be carefully cleaned and this was the only part I had to be careful with.
On sprure (E) there are is part (E 12) but in the instrucions this part is not used as I looked at it it's the oppetset of (E 11) so on the Left Hull I used it instead of (E 11) as shown in the instructions.

Cheers.
Mike.

Hi Guys,
Here's more of my build on the AFV Club M41G(NATO).
I started working on the wheels and I primed them and then painted them and at last I painted the wheel black.

Next I worked on the Tool boxes,no problems there very clean contrsion.

and now on to the top pieces of the Hull, The only part at this stage was be careful when putting together the Engine deck, mainly parts (A1)(A2) the sprue tree is conected to the small hinges and there very fraglel.

Over all so far this has been a very enjoyable kit to work on.

Cheers.
Mike.

Looking good so far, Mike. Looks like everything is fitting well, minimal if any seams to fill. That mantlet cover looks cool, was it hard to fit into place? Thanks for the build log, keep it up!

Hi James,
The Manlet cover is not hard to put in place,I just lined it up and glued it in place.A very quick fix on the alinement was needed before glueing.

Cheers.

Mike-- I assume the cover is homemade. If so, what material did you use to construct it? Looks very good on the model.
thanks

No actually AFV Club has in fact included the cover with their M41 (G) NATO kit – I’m working on this model too and I like it a lot.

My only complaint so far is the lack of an aluminum gun – so I had to spend a bunch of time carefully sanding the plastic halves

Mike – your build looks great so far. I’m not sure if you’ll remember my screen name but you’ve been helping me with my Lebanese M41 project.

Take care,
Noah

Noah-- have you tried to get an aluminum barrel? If so, where? I seem to think I have one in the box that I got somewhere. I can check tonight.

Hi DJ –

I haven’t really searched for an after market aluminum barrel per say but, from an old review, I’m under the impression one was included with AFV’s original M41 kit. I’m not sure why they would have opted to exclude the metal gun this time around – unless the review I read was just wrong in the first place.

Regardless, if you have one in your spares box I’d very gladly buy it from you – if you’re willing to part with it.

Take care,
Noah

I think AFV´s original M41 was his own model. This edition is the ex-Skybow M41 kit (AFV bought the moulds when Skibow closed, like the 1/48 tigers). AFV only should have changed the decals and added smoke dischargers and other small fittings of the German version, thus the vinyl mantlet cover is included and the metal barrel not, as in the Skybow kit.
But in the end, Skybow kit is even a better kit than AFV´s own and of a different version.

And nice build so far. Hope to see the completed model.
