Hello friends,

Here is one more diorama, still in progress, called "Crossing The Bridge".
I've started with this dio. before couple of months, now i'm planing to finish it.

Here is some pictures from start:
Fisrt, i started with base:

With Murexin quick fixing cement i fill inside of base, to get terrain conf.:

I also make a wooden bridge, using balsa wood:

Now, earth and static grass:

Aslo i started to work on figures; of course, old Tamiya set...

And place them on position under the bridge

More pictures comming...

I bet there will be germans up on the bridge about to be ambushed. I can imagine it already! Excellent paint job for the bridge and nice groundwork too. Will there be a stream flowing or something?

Thanks for comment Chas.
Yes, you are right, germans will go on bridge. No, this one will be without stream. Just the way it is now.
Now, on bridge situation is like this:

Italeri BMW with sidecar and crew for this bike: couple pictures in work;

BMW crew:

Now, all together on top of the bridge:

That's all for now!
I have in plan to put Kubelwagen or Horch Kfz.15 behind BMW, like a little convoy but i need to think a little bit about this..

Cheers!

Great dio, the groundwork and bridge are excellent. Interesting that you chose to use some older figures though. The US assult infantry are ok, but the marching Germans with the BMW are pretty old now. However, I think you'll do a great job with this. I'd go with the kubelwagen ass the horch may be a bit big for the scene, however, you need a larger vehicle up there I think.

Great work and an excellent idea, keep us posted,

Great progress. Couple of things I would do. I would end up painting the ends/edges of the bridge black or red to indicate the edge of the vertical space.
I would also wear down some of the foliage at the enterance of the bridge. It looks to overgrown.

May I also suggest that you build up some dense bushes and undergrowth on the far side of the bridge (away from the camera), from where the Americans are coming. So that the foliage climbs above the level of the bridge. Just to give some asymetry, 'cos at the moment, there's too much neat open space all around the bridge. Great work.

I like the old motorbike sidecars, are there any more modern ones? May I suggest change the sidecar riders grip on his weapon, he seems to only just be holding it. Be careful where you place the last running GI, you need him in a place so he can't be seen off of the bridge, don't forget the bike is stationary.

Goran,

We have a saying in English that "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear". That means that if something is fundamentally bad, you can't make it good, no matter how hard you try.

HOWEVER - you have worked wonders with those ancient Tamiya figures (the "sow's ear"), by painting them well and building a nicely landscaped base (the "silk purse") for them to go on. They actually look pretty damn good here, despite their obvious age.

As someone else said, the sidecar guy's grip on his weapon looks wrong, and I think a roadway leading onto the bridge would be better than vegetation.

But that apart - excellent work.

The guy in the sidecar should be gripping an MG-42 that came in the kit. I used the motorcycle for a dio not long ago. That is why it looks goofy. I think he might have another arm that came with him?

Good point Steve. This is a great looking dio. I think that regardless of the figures you really pulled the whole thing off.

I think this is a great example of how, when constructive critisism is given, the builder takes it to heart and uses it to improve their work instead of taking it the wrong way. This is what I love about this site.

Goran, I can't really add anything that hasn't been said already except to say I admire both your talent and willingness to improve. Good job.
