Has anyone compaired the AFV and Trumpeter Stryker kits with each other? I just got both kits and noticed a lot of differences between the two. The Trumpeter kit is wider, the hatches are diferent sizes, wheels and tires are not even close to being the same size. Any ideas why this is?

Jerry Perth Military Modeling did a comparison between the two...

Stryker

And a review index...

Stryker review index

Also Robert Burik did a review of the AFV 1126 Stryker, also through out the fourm boards there are many questions and answers on the two subjects.

Is this kit a better buy thans the standard version, as you have more options with it do you think?

Without being able to check at the moment I am pretty sure all the parts from the ICV are there plus those needed for the CV. So, the CV is the better value and those that wish can really make an ICV out of it instead. And you get that extra stuff that can be used on either version - Duke, strut guards, footman loops... Even though the hull for the CV has that hatch opening on the right side the ICV right side piece will cover it over.

Mine arrived today Like Bob said you get the parts to do the ICV along with the kits parts. One will be a ICV while the other a CV. I was going to buy the AFV M1126 kit but decided on this kit for the extra PE.

There is a sticker on the box top..." Special Parts first edition only " will these parts no longer be with the first run of kits...any ideas Bob.

Joe, I have no connections w/ AFV Club so I can only suppose their words are true - future CV kits will not have the resin BFT item.

I also suppose to do an ICV out of the CV kit you MIGHT need a different decal sheet other than which comes with the CV kit. Two of the three options are HQ units. Would an ICV be in a HQ unit? Maybe, but I am not sure. The third option actually has blacked out bumper codes, so I suppose an ICV can have these bumper codes too.

True...not all that hard to remove and fill a few antenna base's and the top area will be filled up with gear. The reason I got an extra CV kit was that it came with the extra PE.

Bob...yeah I'll have to make up my own markings for one of the units.

Yes. If one were not going to fill that portion of the roof with gear as Joe plans on doing, you could not do an ICV. YOu can see the differences in the photos of the roofs in the two different reviews and determine for yourself if it is worth the effort to remove/fill the CV differences to make an ICV.
