Hi Guys
Im currently making Tamiyas Universal Carrier Forced Recon and am doing it in the markings of the Grenadier Guards. I have come across this photo of such a vehicle just before Op Goodwood and was wondering what the thing with the Star on the front is, do you think it is a flag or just a piece of tarpaulin with the Star painted on.

Cheers. Nick

Cheers Art.
Right heres my take on the tarp:

Any comments welcome. Its made from thinly rolled miliput and is my first attempt at this way of making tarps. Nick

I love this kit.

I didn't do anything special with mine, it was simply a test piece for a rust technique I was trying out.

I want to make a captured variant one day, I'll put it on the list:

Hope you enjoyed the build. The canvas on the front looks really promising, How are you going to finish the kit; heavy weathering or spanking clean?

Thanks for posting

Stuart

I am thinking either new or lightly weathered depending on how I feel my skill level is when it comes to that!! Rest assured whatever I do it will almost certainly find its way to the forums here on armorama!!

Stuart,

In case you don't know, but the captured vehicle in the photo _isn't_ a Universal Carrier, it's a Bren or Scout carrier. You can tell that because the rear compartment isn't the same as the UC. The UC was designed in response to the need for a common carrier for the rapidly expanding army and it replaced the Bren and Scout carriers, many of whch were captured in France in 1940. Apparently like the one in the photo...

:-)

from the look of the pieces behind the carrier which look in focus I think it is for photography skills that need a bit of polishing. The camera I take it is a compact type as it looks as if it is the focal length that is the problem you are to close to the carrier. Try moving back a bit and cropping the photo after wards that way you still end up with a good photo.
