Hi Joe

I've yet to read a build review, but you can look at the bits here

Hi Joe: If the Italeri announcement got by you then you must have missed the AFV Club annoucnement made in Tokyo

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/afvclub.htm

Given that the Italeri one has MSRP about $40, I'm going to go with AFV Club.

As far as converting the GMC truck, Masters Production of France makes an excellent resin conversion (gun included). It's kit 35004 and is 49EU from Blast Models. I have it and have seen it built up. It's fantastic. Was only used by the French in WW2, however.

I did a build review for ML/Hyperscale which can be seen here:
http://www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/usa/italeri6458reviewab_1.html

IMHO opinion this is NOT up to the current standards that I know Italeri are capable of and in fact I thought it may be an old 70's project that was never completed back then but resurrected.

When compared to photos of the real thing you see a lot of obvious and missing detail. If one kit cries out for PE it is this one. The Figures that come with it are no better than the old Italeri / Max Peerless truck crews (Woeful) and are wearing some weird uniform beraing little resemblence (other than the M1 pot) to US Army; the gaiters look like postwar Australian ones!

Given the high price of this kit (which in this country is on par with the DML 88 for a kit with the same amount of parts as the later DML PAK 40's) I could not recommend it as good value for money.
If you want a Bofors quickly, go for it. If you want an accurate Bofors wait and see what AFV club brings. It should be noted that the Bofors Depicted is useable for a Mid / Late war US model and a significant amount of conversion will be required for a Commonwealth Example.
Cheers

Drat! Saw it, liked it, bought it.

Looks like some scratchbuilding coming up to make a Brit version.

Thanks for the review Al.

Thanks for the review Al

Guess I'm not the only one who is disappointed that you can't make a British Army one out of it without conversion. I was so looking forward to using the ESCI Bofors crew (from the one they never issued) on it.

Hi Guys,

I'd agree, for what you get in the box and what it costs it's not good value, so a PE update/conversion is awaited.

As Al says, it's disappointing, but at least we have one in plastic. No doubt the price will fall given time.
