I AM LOOKING FOR THE HEAVY RECOVERY VEH. USED MOSTLY BY THE USMC. IT HAS A BLADE ON THE FRONT AND REAR. THE BOOM WAS IN THE CENTER OF THE VEH AND STUCK OUT OVER THE REAR. I AM TRYING TO FIND THE M# SO I CAN GET THE MODEL. I WAS IN THE ARMY FOR 22 YEARS & SAW THE XM806,WORKED ON M578,M88/A1.THIS IS THE BIGGEST RECOVERY VEH.I EVER SAW. SAW ONE ON APG AND ON THIS WEB SITE, BUT DUMMY ME DIDN'T WRITE IT DOWN.

if your talking about what they are using now, it is an M88A2 and M88A3 Hercules. I dom't think they us anything else except the LAV-R and the LVTP7 recovery version.

First a forum note: Could you please type in regular sentence case? All caps is seen as yelling on the forums and is harder to read.
I concur on the M51 as well. It was used mainly by the USMC from the mid-1950s through the early Vietnam war years. It was based on the same chassis as the M103 Heavy Tank (which looked like an M48 on steroids), and shared many components with the M48 series of tanks.
Pete,
What's an M88A3? The current M88 model with added armor is the M88A2 Hercules. Sorry, no A3 model yet.
