The Thompson submachine gun began its impressive career during the Prohibition era, being used by both law enforcement officers and gangsters. Favoured for its compactness, large .45 ACP bullet, and high volume of automatic fire, it soon became the one of the most trusted weapons used by U.S military forces by the onset of WW2. The 'Tommy Gun' also saw extensive service in the British, Australian, and Canadian Armies, in both the European and Pacific theaters. After the war, the Tommy gun continued its services in the Korean War, First Indochina War and Vietnam War. Total production numbered approx. 1.7 million.
In this campaign, modellers can build a diorama/vignette showing at least one soldier or civilian using the Tommy gun to great effect against enemy positions. It may be set in any time-frame from 1921–1971 (i.e. Irish War of Independence- Vietnam War) and any nationality as long as it is historically accurate (i.e no Afghani warriors using it against U.N forces). Modellers may wish to recreate an actual event or scene, Armor or cars are accepted as long as the Tommy gunner features heavily.
What do you guys think? A worthy a campaign? Probably start January if anyone is interested.

Since the Tommy Gun was famous outside of the military, maybe this would be better off as a ModelGeek campaign. This way figure modelers could do gangsters or car guys could do a drive-by or maybe an FBI raid.

Hi Chas- why start in 1938, the Tommy Gun first saw action in the Irish War of Independence used by Republican forces in 1921 and as Gary says was very popular among gangsters in the roaring twenties.

I said 1938 because that was the year the Tommy gun was officially recognised as a U.S military sub-machine gun. I was hopefully aiming for a military campaign where the modeller could depict the Tommy gun in a major war/conflict.
Give me some more feedback so I can decide whether or not to move it to Historicus Forma.

I'd say move it to HF. That way you can cover military as well as civilian genres and you should get a wider number of entries.

I have modified the rules to include civilian genres as Rudi and others suggested. Thanks
