I don't know if you have any particular vehicles picked out for this piece yet, but I've seen numerous pictures online and in my local paper of vehicles knocking over statues and murals of Saddam. I also recall one picture of a crane or recovery vehicle pulling the hear off a statues of Saddam with a soldier sitting on his shoulders. That would be kind of interesting.

Your best ideas may come from looking at the photos in the paper or on one of the newsites on line that have photo galleries (ie. MSNBC). You could pick a photo and model it... I'm thinking about a small dio of a photo we ran on the frint page last week of of three 3ID guys rescuing a woman from the crossfire on a bride. Great photo. But that project is still a long way off...

There are enough ideas for dioramas to fill a football stadium floor! Vehicle conversions and addons abound, uniforms are interesting and varied; British figures could be combined with US/Iraqi figures, US vehicles, British Vehicles, Iraqi vehicles, ruins, bridges, etc... you name it... OH, and don't forget the artillery and other ideas... buildings.. all sorts of stuff.

I have been collecting newspaper photos since day one. A wealth of diorama ideas there. The one that I'm going to tackle is as follows.
Baghdad street -- 3 and 4 story commercial on the 1st floor, residents floors 2, 3 & 4.
2 Iraqi T-72's one with its turret popped completely off and the other with its turret askew. A 3rd ID M1A2 rolling by the burned out hulks. The title will take a line from Toby Keith's song "The Angry American", something about a boot being applied to the backside.
Hope to have it completed very soon.

That are some cool pictures. Resting soldiers are always nice images to make dio`s of. At least resting or eating soldiers are always my favourites. I love the last two pictures. I have made a dio a couple of years ago with Cardplaying US soldiers during ww2 and the last one sure tells a story :-) :-)
Cool pics and too bad that I`mnot really a modern builder as there are some really good ideas in this

thank you Faust.I have some more good photos ,I will scan and send them asap. I absolutely agree with you about figures in dioramas; static figures are always better than in action figures. I had problems to find 1:35 playing cards and solved the problem with print outs.

What I want to do is less of a dio and more of a vignette I would guess.
I really liked the footage of the 3rd ID making an excursion into Baghdad a few days ago. They were travelling down a highway with armor and apc's and Iraqi vehicles burning along side the road. There were also great road signs over the highway that said Baghdad City Centre and Saddam Intl Airport.
I'm working on two M1's right now and am planning to do an M113 next. My simple idea is a M1 with a 113 along behind on a stretch of pavement. Then, I could have a nice highway sign and I'd like to do one of those rodeside 'shrines' to Saddam. You know, those paintings of him that are everywhere.
Best thing I've seen so far was early on when some GI or Tommy scrwaled "Our foot is in your ass' on one of those Saddam pictures! I think this would be great.
So, it would be loaded down armor, a few crew members, and some signs. Not a story, but a good way to display two vehicles. Even better if I do the M1 in a dusty, dirty green and the 113 in desert scheme. Good contrast. I think I'll pass on the burnt-out armor though.
A nice long, thin set-up.

What about when the Iraqis were searching the river bank for the "downed American pilot" ?That would be cool with the water and high grass and soldiers searching.
