Just wondering if there are any decent kits of this cool looking tank
I am almost done with my M1A2 SEP and I would love to see a Merkava next to it.
I just cannot find any kits, only upgrades from Legend Productions.

In 1/35 scale, there are three injection moulded options - Taniya's Mk1, Academy's MkII (also available with a mine roller) and Academy's MkIII.
Of the three, Academy's MkIII is the "worst" as it was modelled on a prototype/very early production vehicle and is not really representative of the type.
We can only live in hope that one of the mainstream manufacturers sees fit to come to the party with an up to date Mk IV. Until then, the only option for a Mk IV is the Legends kit.

Hi Cody
Phil is right. We can only live in hope. You can check out the buid article by Norman Lim in missing-lynx.com. He did a fantastic job on Legend's Mk4 even with some crappy resin parts.
Here are a few pics of my Academy Mk 3. The only Mk 3 kit avaliable, accurate or not.
Stock build except for the Legend MG & some minor improvements. ,

This hobby is also about enjoyment & not stressing yoursely out trying to be 100% authentic.
Cheers

I might just get the MkII from Academy and add the Fruilmodel tracks, I love those things and maybe a new turret, but I have to debate all that
Also, real quick
Does anyone know the purpose of the Chain & Balls on the back of the turret?

They are an RPG screen, similar in purpose to the slat armor on the Strykers, the rear of Challenger IIs, and other vehicles in Iraq.

I'm working on the Academy MKII right now, bought the Legends PE basket-but ended up using only
the basket floor and chain armor(took twice as long as building the model)-chains hang straight
down when its turned straight. Its just in initial paint here:
Go to www.IDFmodeling.com for more tips on the Merk
Adam O'Brien started a new site too, his Merkava is just over-the-top awesome:
