HI,
This is my first try at really getting a good appearance and I am stuck. It looks like a plastic toy so what do I need to do now. I have read all I can but when it comes down to it I don't want to screw up the poor thing so I stopped to see what you guy' may suggest. I have noticed one thing take a pic and you can see all the little things that need corrected but one thing at a time.
Thanks for any Help

doesn't look badly made, my best man. I would advice you paint the exhaust, rust (burned sienna) en give the springs a dark wash, followed with a rub with a pencil, give the whole a matt coating, that will take the shine off your model making it less "plastic toy", also the edges of wear, tracks, hatches, can be enhanced with a pencil to make'm shine metal'ish, maybe a dusting on al flat panels and specialy the track/roadwheel parts.

hope I helped.

A basic wash and some dullcote will go a long way. Model looks good overall though-just needs a little rust-n-dust

PS not TOO much though

A dark brown wash applied around the raised details will pull them out and create scale shadows. Dust and dirt can be created with overall washes of the dust color, or overspray a glaze (or "filter" as Mig's books call it), a mix of clear flat or gloss, thinner and a little dirt-colored paint airbrushed heavily over the running gear and less heavily on the rest of the vehicle. Always stop just before you think you've applied "enough." Or, you could use ground up artist's pastel chalks or dry pigments to applied actual dust to the nooks and crannies with a dry paintbrush. Each of these approaches can yield good results. Practice a bit on an old kit before you work on the Hotchkiss.
