Hi all,
i´m building Dragons M1A1 AIM and I need a good color match for US desert vehicles. I´ve read that they are painted overall tan (FS 33446). Does someone know a good color match for Vallejo Model Air color or Tamiya paints?

I know you are looking for Tamiya or Vallejo paints but if you can get it, Model Master Sand (FS33531) is supposed to be a perfect match.
Hope this helps.

Hi Thomas,
thank you for the reply. I know that MM Desert Sand is a good match but I prefer acrylic colors to paint. In the past I i´ve had much problems with non acrilic paints especially when weathering a model with diverent solvents and the Polly scale paints are not available in germany.

Although I haven't used it Gunze H313 is supposed to be the same as FS33531. Might be what you are looking for.

I like using Tamiya Desert Yellow XF-59. Some times I'll add alittle Flat Yellow XF-3.

Arne, Model Master does make an acrylic Desert Sand 33531. I have a dozen bottles sitting in front of me right now.

i have just built and painted my m1a1aim and i used 'model air 075 sand'.now the reason i used this is in the model air paint chart where the small block of colour is and the paint number, it also states FS33531 and it looks a good match to the turret stickers in the kit.

Well Neil I think you have to show us some pictures of your M1. There's always room for one more Abrams.

Nice-looking Abrams, Neil. The color looks right on the money (at least on my monitor). It's also nice to know that Vallejo also makes a US OIF Sand color equivalent. I have used Model Master on my models so far, but I am increasingly gravitating to acrylics because of the health issues involved with enamels.

hi lucas if you havent used vallejo acrylics before then give em a go they really are that good both model air & model color. as for the health issue i dont think they are in anyway toxic they certainley dont give off any nasty fumes.i just checked out your m1a2 & the m113 wow they really are very very good.
