I'm completing the painting on my Trumpeter BTR 80 and the photo on the box shows the exhaust? to be rust in color? is this correct?

Definitely not. Actual mufflers are shielded by spaced steel covers.

Thanks. It appears that the model would be inaccurate then.

I'm afraid that is the least. The kit itself appears to be based on DML's 1/35 molds, and is full of dimensional discrepancies identical to these of a larger scale ''donor".

That's what I thought. I'm not that concerned about dimensional discrepancies as the overal appearance of the model in what it represents.

Just do some google image searches for "BTR 80" and there are plenty of images to use as reference for painting, weathering, markings, and the exhausts. There are tons of photos of BTR 80s deployed.

I would suggest not relying on box art or images of built kits on box tops for anything to do with the finishing of a model.
