Greetings everyone,
Recently, to enlarge my Russian vehicle park, I have begun the construction of Dragon's old BMP-2(3504). Everyone I talk to says how horrible the kit was and why I should not build it, but I have managed to complete the asssembly of the chassis and the tracks successfully (yes I encountered problems but they were manageable).
Now, as the vehicle has sideskirts covering some area on the sides, I decided to paint the lower body first, then mask everything painted and assemble the rest. Then paint the rest, remove masking tape and weather it altogether. However, the painting instructions are too vague. It gives crazy cocktails of Gunze Sangyo paint with arrows pointing everywhere. It becomes even more vague if you want a DDR, Czech or Finnish vehicle.
I want to build a Russian vehicle, a plain green would do but a camouflaged one would be better. The instructions point out to two USSR vehicles, both very generic. One is (from what I understand) green and brown, the other only green. However, the suggested mixtures for the greens are also different. I am totally confused.
Does anyone have decent Russian BMP photos or paint schemes? Can you give me paint codes for either Testors Modelmaster or Humbrol for the colors? I can appreciate any help to revive this old dog of a kit, as I am determined to complete this kit and show the nay-sayers it can be done.
Thanks in Advance!
