I love the weathering--you really captured the dusty look of the tanks in Iraq.

That is a great looking M1A1 – the weathering in particular is outstanding. Can you please share how you accomplished that “dusty” look? With powders I assume? How did you apply them? Did you use “filters” before hand etc?

Again – great work!

Thanks for your compliments.
I applied & followed, the "normal" weathering procedures.
"heavy" mud, airbrush mist - dusting, dark Wash, light drybrudh to show details, some light filters, various shades of pigments (with lots of white spirit) and finally dry pastels for the "dusty" look.

Hey stavros

Looks like a nice model! I love the dusty wheatering you made. And the pic below is a GREAT picture! Looks like the real deal :-)

I would delete or change the barbed wire on the back of the vehicle. It looks a little to thick for the model. Eduard has a nice razor wire set. I could give you the item no. if you want to. Or you could use really thin metal wire for example 0.1mm or 0.2mm thick. Keep up the good work.

Looks like the real deal to me. Im really impressed. I do have to agree on the barb wire. I would go with the Eduards set myself.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

@ Sam : the dip pans were included in the kit, together with some other things like plastic and metal canisters, tow bar, ammo boxes etc.

@ Roel & Tim : I didn’t know about the Eduard barbed wire. I will try to find it and maybe replace it in the future.

@ David : the backdrop is natural. It’s mount Hemittus, eastern of Athens, Greece, viewed from my third floor balcony. Pics were taken, out in the open, under a cloudy sky, with an Olympus E-510 UZ.

Hi Stavros

Nice model! I really like your weathering and how you've captured the look of a dusty, working tank. The stowage is nice and the candid crew figure looks good too. Nice display and well done!

thanks for sharing...

G'Day Stavros, Great effort. You did a really good job. I have a couple of the same kit, I only hope that they come out as well as your. There is only one thing that I think is wrong with it. A Newsweek magizine? Playboy definately, but Newsweek? Overall fantastic effort though.
Cheers
