Wow great site! I just found it yesterday. Well I probably haven't built a model in 20 years, and even then it wasnt very detailed. So the project I've set for myself seems rather large. A dio of the 3rd I.D. in Bagdad!
What I really need to know right now is are these the correct vehicles for the 3rd I.D.;M1A2 abrahms,M2A2 bradley IFV, M988 hummer, AH64D Apache Longbow? And if these are correct what are the best manufacturers for each model?
I appreciate all your input and am sure I'll have a million more questions before it's done.
thanks
Oh Yeah, how do you get rank?

Thhe answer to your first question,I think it depends on the builder he/she decides which one is best.I like tamiya personaly for the armor, never built an apache. And to your second question rank increases with how many posts you submit.BTW welcome to the site!

I don't know the best manufacturers for the specific vehicles. Tamiya and Academy are typically ranked the best amoung manufacturers in general so I don't think you'd go wrong with those.
Be aware that there is a scale difference between AFVs and AC's. AFV's are typically 1/35 and AC's are typcially 1/32. You will have to account for this in you dioramas.

didn't MRC or somebody do a 1:35 Apache? I know just about every other US military helicopter is in that scale. If not, wait a while and it will be. I've heard good things about the Trumpeter MIA2 bt personally I'ld stick with Tamiya. PE sets are always available for them if you aren't satisfied with the OOB kit

From what everyone says, best M1A2 is by TRUMPETER, best M2 probably TAMIYA.
For the best AH64, you'll probably have to look for HASEGAWA, but in 1/48th scale.

best products are the ones you can find easily and in good prices.you can add details as you wish using lots of materials..when you try to build them in your best, you will see they are the best products.
