Just like the title says, my AFV Stryker hit an IED in the form of my 2 year old step son.
Thank god it wasn't that much damage and it looks like it can be salvagable. It might even work to my advantage. If I don't get it straighten out I might just leave it as a battle damaged area of the Slat Armor.
Well, it's off to go try and fix it. I will post pictures of the armor all done. Plus I just got in the mail today, the Hobby Fan Stryker crew. I will be doing an In-Box review of the figures here in the next few days.
WISH ME LUCK!

All you'd need is a flat tire to go with it..................

Hey, it looks pretty realistic. I might borrow your kid for a few hours sometime to help me building...

Either way Pete it looks good, what happened...little fingers picking it up. I haven't started nor decided what to use putting my PE slats together with, what did you use and any tips you can pass on.

The only advice I can give you Mother is PATIENCE, LOTS AND LOTS OF PATIENCE!!!!!!!!!!
I used plain Duro Super Glue. But you know what, the thing i would do if I decide to do another slat armor, is replace the photo etch square tubing with actual brass square tube or plastic evergreen. I managed to fold the square tubing, but it wasn't square enough. It made my slat armor kind of crooked. But i think with paint and weathering and all the gear, you won't be able to tell. I'm hoping when all is done, it will have that beat up look.

Thanks Pete, yeah I thought of using Evergreen bar in place of the PE ones. Patience...just handling and removing the pieces is patience alone

Just work one section at a time. As I finished one section, once the next section was done, I glued those two together and so on. I worked from the rear to the front.
Don't glue on the front peice until you have both sides and rear done and in place

Hi Pete,
I have very good idea. If you wish I can send you free one slat which I have as spare parts.
You can front parts rebuild.

Pete-- it almost goes without saying, but treasure that child and the fond memories of "the time you...". Mine ate, broke and destroyed several items. He's much better now and has his own toys to mess with.

Pete
The model looks cool. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. I have some ideas of what to do with a slat depiction, but I can't make up my mind.

Hello Pete. Looks like you got a lot of detail work in that one. I just got the AFV Styrker myself. Your story reminds me of the, shall I say, "aerial attack" my Sturmtiger conversion suffered a few years ago at the hands of a visiting neighbor boy. I got home from work and......AAAAHHHH.... I had to scrounge the carpet for missing parts and track sections. I found most, but had to simulate blast damage on the remaining areas. Hope it all goes well !!

You took a really nice, high quality close up shot of the damage.
