Hi guys !!
I just bought myself a M-42 Duster from Tamiya ( the old kit ) from my regular supplier.
I found out that they were used untill the 80's by the National Guard units.
Does someone perhaps know by which units or does someone know where to find any good pictures with unit markings ?

I want to be more specific, but the internet will help you. There is a complete M42 Duster on display at the New Mexico National Guard Museum in Santa Fe. When I last saw it in 2005, it was in front of the museum, surrounded by chain link fencing whick allowed a close view, but got in the way of decent photos. I believe it was still wearing the four-color MERDC desert scheme. The paint was original, and looked it!
By the way, the NM ARNG ADA Bn (M42 Dusters) was an integral part of the 40th Infantry Division during the 80s, as the California assigned units had no organic ADA assets outside Stinger teams.

In addition to the vehicles kept within the state, the NM units that were CAPSTONE to the 40 ID kept vehicles in those locations where they would conduct most of their training. Ft Irwinm before the NTC conversion, was one of those.

NM Nat'l Guard used to keep some at USAADACENT Ft Bliss TX, they were parked in an old WW2 era motor pool on Logan Heights. Of course, as most of Ft Bliss (the ranges) are in New Mexico, I guess that counts as "in state."

I'm not sure of the Battalion but some of the guys from NM were also part of the 50th Armored Div. in New Jersey. I trained with them in the early 80s in Fort Drum a long way from the desert. The cold wet New York summer made those guys uncomfortable.

I think 38th ID of the Indiana NG might have used them too, but I can't confirm that. I know there is one in their outdoor museum at the gates of Camp Atterbury near Columbus, Indiana.
