The site will be going offline for up to 24hrs sometime later tonight. I apologize to everyone in advance. I need to physically move the site from a server on the west coast to one in Atlanta, Georgia and as I cannot grab an exact copy of the database at the exact moment is transitions to the new server the preferred system for me is just to have the site offline during the switch-over. This way new members and posts will not be lost (of course they won't be made either.... catch 22).
Hopefully it will only be 8hrs or so. I think they are just changing the IP to point to the new server and not giving me a brand new IP (which would really be bad as then it would mean a long delay for it to get out to everyone's local ISPs. If they do this I will put a forwarding script to send everyone to the new IP address.
Wish me luck. Moving 700 mb of files and 80mb of MySQL database code is not picnic.
Cheers,
Jim

Have fun Jim! A server transfer is definitely not a picnic. I hope nothing bad happens. Remember: You can never have too many backups

This isn't going to happen till at least tomorrow night (Friday night). The file transfers are just taking soooooo long. I guess moving around 25,000 files will do that.
So enjoy the delay. The weekend may be rough sailing though. I hope not.

I hope the very best for the move Jim. I know you can do it.
I saved a few pages to "My Documents" to read later so I do not suffer withdrawals.
See you all on the other side.

Okay. It's looking like Monday will be T-day. Interland seems to think that will work best for the transfer. I have all the files finally backed-up and moved to the new server. I just need to do a complete capture of the databases on the server. That will be Sunday night I think.
The editors are getting the week off.
Cheers,
Jim
