Altered the Merc heavy duty rear double axle by cutting off the axle fixings and pushing them out approx 1cm further to accommodate the larger wheels.
Also cut off the drive shaft sections and replaced them with larger diameter plastic tube. Inserts of alluminium tube will fit inside the resin wheels (fixed) and will be inserted without glue into the drive shafts. The drop arms were beafed up using the plastic rod from used cotton buds (ear wax can act as greace).
I am hoping to keep a degree of flexing in the suspension to show how much off some articulation.
Resin tyres from KFS will all need the square edges rounded off to give the tyres there distingtive rounded bulge.
Anybody got DROPS photos from underneath and or during tyre changes to be able to do the plumbing of the chassis, etc?
Until I get chance to look under one I will be getting my home made resin Hiab load handling equipment on the bench to improve the detailing, correct the shape and dimensions.
Hope some of you REME guys can help out with under chassis pics!
