Is the DML's 1/35 U.S. M26A-1 Pershing Kit #6801, any good?

Accuracy? What type of track links? Is there any build up reviews available on the net?

Chris, DML's kit is quite good. It's fairly accurate (I'll have to go through my notes to get the particulars). The tracks are very nice indi's.

M26 Pershing

I just started building this kit and so far I'm quite happy it. I've compared it to the Tamiya kit and while no one can really touch Mr. Tamiya's team for the fine quality of their casting and surface detail, I actually prefer the DML kit. I think the DML turret is a bit beefier looking than Tamiya's. I also like the individual link tracks. Even though eack link has two knock out pin parks to sand off, they really clean up easily and quickly. Tamiy's kit has the workable suspension but I find that of little value. The DML kit has some small detail that Tamiya's is missing, like the front and rear fneder braces and individual handles for the fender-top storage boxes. You can probably pick up the DML kit pretty reasonably on eBay too, since many modellers have rushed to add the Tamiya kit to their stashes.

I know that's by no means a difinitive review but hey, I just started building the thing.

what Dave says is quite right, basically the DML kit is a later version M26A1 and TAMIYA has the early version M26. Both are nice, main difference is the fume extractor and tracks. Both actually served in Korea ... If you can afford it they'll make an intersting side-by-side set ...

I added casting marks, cut some lightening holes in the drive sprockets, made a "canvas" manlet cover with epoxy putty, added wire tie-downs and used the Eduard M26A1 PE set for a few bits, like the headlight guards. I also have the M26A1 kit on the shelf, unstarted. Dave's comments are quite correct.

The most visible differences between the T26E3 and the M26A1 are the gun barrel and the barrel travel lock.
