you're better off going to a discount place and buying Tamiya Tiger and Panther. They just are better. I like the Italeri sherman because it is the only version of a cast hull Sherman currently available at a erasonable price...it builds up pretty nice too

I'm with the other fellas. Italeri's Shermans are "honest" models, but if you manage to find Tamiya's Panthers and Tigers somewhere for a cheaper or comparable price than Italeri go for them.

well, I would say the NEWER Tamiya panther and Tiger kits are better than the Italeri ones, but not the older (70's) ones.
The Italeri kits all build into decent enough models. The Tiger and Panther kits with the zimmerite parts will make a dimensinally accurate kit, and working with the pieces is not that bad. Wrapping the zimmerite around the tiger turret is a pain, but it sure is better than using squadron green putty and a knife...

I have built the tamiya Panthers and Tigers.I have but havent built an Italeri tiger. However,if you have referances, and time, and paitience, any kit can be detailed well enough.
Think of Italeri kits as ones to practice skills on.

I guess every kit and manufacturer has their pitfalls. Both Italeri and older tamiya, have their stronger points. Newer tamiya kits probably are much better quality but you are paying twice the price for that quality. So maybe its not fair to compare them totally. With a bit of extra effort most italeri models build up quite nicely. And for their price are good value.
