Hey Guy's,
Bought my first set of GEN 2 figures from DML, the US set with the guy carrying the .30 cal mg.
Opening the box I was impressed with the details especially the the new weapon sprues and pe rifle slings and that the barrels are already hollowed out; I did think the uniforms parts was a little excessive with the tiny shoulder straps being separate, more chance for tiny part tweezer launch but over all nice with separate hands and stuff as I usually cut off hands and hollow sleeve out on other figures.
But what I would like to know is how many of you like the heads being slipt in half? I put one together and use slightly more glue to help fill the gap but it still shows where the face separates so now I have to fill this gap and a small part or go find resin heads from Hornet. Heads molded in one piece have mold line,no big deal we all can handle mold lines but what made DML think that this 2 part heads was a improvement compared to the solid head cast by their older sets? to me it looks like a pain in the butt! What are your opinions on these heads?

Hi Robert. "Pain in the butt" would most defiinately be my opinion as well. The very few Gen II figures I have made so far, have had Hornet or Legends Heads, and I dont see any other alternatives in the immediate future.
Then again, its a habit Ive had for a long time ... I have a small stock of AM heads on hand all the time, and if Im serious about buying a set of figures, I also plan an AM set of heads as well.
The last "kit" heads I used were some of the anniversary sets that had extra heads, and these were whole ... these were quite good quality.

Gen 2 figures are nice but the faces are a littlebit dead in my opinion.
Use AM heads, because they ad more carracter to your Gen 2 figures.
Any figure for that matter.
Frank.

I've had some good results with the Gen2 heads, but nothing as good as a decent resin set. In my mind you can make them work if you really like the face or pose of the kit head, but its easier and faster to get a quality finish from resin.

I usually do the resin heads. I find it easier to get them 15-20 at a time, and paint them all at once. Then they are ready to go when I need them.

The two-part heads and the tiny shoulder straps: I'm afraid it's that "new, improved" syndrome rearing its head once again. Happens a lot.
Like when my SWMBO presented the cats with "new, improved" Whiskas once - and they refused point blank to eat the stuff.
If it ain't broken - why fix it?!
