Well guys, after my near miss with my 2 year old IED, I managed to repair the damge and move on. I finally got all the slat armor up (wasn't something I want to go through any time soon again). I casted a copy of one of the tires for my spare. I also added the spent cartridge basket from the Hobby Fan Stryker crew. I used Tamiya two part epoxy putty for the sand bags. I modeled the sand bags not too full of dirt, pretty flat. I've seen a couple of pictures with the sand bags this way. I still need to add the sand bags around the rear hatches but I am going to add those last since I am going to put them on 2x4 boards and strap them to the slat. I'm gpoing to use railRoad lumber to scale for the 2x4's.

So, what do you guys think so far?

Not to be a bolt counter, but I do think your left rear wheel has gone MIA! Think its time to break out that nice spare on top. Hehe, seriously the damage cleaned up well. Hope it wasn't too difficult. What are you mounting up top, M2 or Mk19? Good luck with the painting.

Jeff,
Yup, while i was pulling off the tire, I broke the pin off. While i was taking the picture, it was off to the side drying. I'm mounting the .50 Cal in the weapons station.
Joe, Glad you got the pictures.

It's looking really good, Pete! The repair is not noticeable at all and the sandbags definitely look the part.

Yea Jeff, I kind of got mad at my wife for not watching my desk while I was at work since here desl is right next to mine. But an hour later, I went back appologized to here. i couldn't get after my 2 year old cause I knew he didn't know better.
Well guys, since I have a 5 day weekend starting Friday, I am hoping to have paint and decals on it. Got to still add the sand bags to the rear and some tie down loops to the pioneer rack. I still need to add the slat to the lower left side too.

It looks great Pete. Sandbags are supposed to be filled about 2/3 full so you can get a proper fit when stacked, and yours look spot on. Looking forward to see it finished.

Nice. That grill must of been hell. As someone who did something similar (Abrams etched exhaust cover – not nearly as much work) I can appreciate what that takes.

Pete
Did you anneal all the PE before you assembled it. The PE looks burnt or something from the photos. Sorry for the dumb question.

Nope Boggie, actually Eduard's brass comes in this aluminum/steel color, but when you sand it or scratch it, you can see the brass color under it.

The repair work is mighty impressive. The slat is tough enough already without having to do such a major fix. And do you think you could sculpt me about a dozen sandbags? Yours look absolutely fantastic!
