Hi all
What Tanks did the russians use during the kursk battle?
I have a diorama idea of KV 2 knocked out and fell into a ditch.
can it be the KV-2 as i have the trumpeter kit or do i need to buy a new kit?
many thanks

The KV 2's were pretty much all used up by 1943. Your idea would work best for a 1941 invasion scene.

If you want to do the scene at Kursk, use a T-34 or KV-1.

Supposedly there was a unit of 8 KV-2s at Kursk; they must have been just about the last remaining vehicles of this type. I've never seen a photo. Since they were automotively identical to other KVs, there's no real reason they could not have been kept running till 1943. Certainly there were some 1941-vintage T-34s also. So it's not impossible, it's merely highly unlikely.
The most common Soviet vehicles at Kursk, by far, were the T-34 and T-70. They also had a few KVs, Churchills, M3 Lees, SU-152, and other minor types.

Maybe if the KV2's were dug in it would make some sense to have a few at Kursk. One never knows.

Thanks for the replys.
I have orded the dragon T34/76 hope this will do,having no knowledge of russian armour this is why i asked the question.
My dio will consist of a Ferdinand and a couple of tank crew talking to a few troops, and i wanted another vehicle just to take up more of the space so i had the idea of a knocked out tank.
Cheers
