Hi all,
I thought I would get into the spirit of xmas, so I added a little snow to my shermy.
This is my first attempt at a small scene/diorama.
the snow is woodlands scenic stuff, very fine, ok for fresh fallen snow.
all comments most welcome, and have a good new year
many thanks

Great looking scene Malcolm. Love the Sherman. The only odd looking item is the position of the side lifting lugs on the turret. They seem a little high to me. Maybe check references? Also, the fact that the TC and the footsoldier are looking towards different angles -- makes them very disconnected. Could you turn one or both of them so they are looking at the same distant object? I think it'll pull the footsoldier in -- now, he looks like an afterthought.

Hi Malcolm,
Excellent looking little dio. The snow has worked out really well, looks the part. Grand looking kit, just the weather for Duckbills. Commanders helmet looks a bit shinny but that may just be the pics.
Excellent stuff.

Very nicely done! The snow looks just right with the right amount as if it is wind blown in some areas.
I saved a couple of pics for inspiration on my Jumbo that I need to finish. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Ed,
the red FLAG, is an air recognition panel, sort of flag, normally red and blue are for front line vehicles, and yellow/orange are for the boys in the back.

great tank but why no snow on the gun mantlet/barrel

because it gets hot when being fired, and the recoil knocks the snow off?
does that sound about right
good one, cheers mate,

Good work, overall. Couple of points, though. Shermans often had huge piles of stowage on the rear deck, but these were generally M4's, which had a forward mounted intake cowling and a solid deck behind. However, the M4A3 had a huge intake grill for combustion air and cooling airflow, and blocking that grill would cause problems. Cooling isn't such a problem in winter, but it does looks like you've almost completely covered the grill. Also, snow build up isn't equal on all parts of a tank. As you've pointed out, firing the gun would dislodge or melt snow. But engine heat also prevents snow build-up on the engine deck unless the motor is shut down (wartime accounts often report that foot soldiers liked to ride on a tank's engine deck in winter, for the warmth).
