Got some work done over the holiday. Painted and addeda wash to the Stryker. I did finish the RWS and all i need to do is seal it in clear flat and dust it withpigments once the whole vehicle is done.
I aslo managed to complete the Vehicle Commander as well. The figure is from the Hobby Fan Stryker crew(I'll be doing a review once the other figure is done). I thought the ACU pattern was going to be hard to do at this scale, but I think it came out just fine. The box art has him wearing an ACU pattern IBA, but I thought a Woodland Camo IBA would add some more color to it. And of course the patches and flag is from Echelon's fine decal patch set.
So, here you go and what do you think so far?
And the figure (I have to add another coat of clear flat becasue the first coat came out a bit glossy. Could have been the weather or I need to shake the can a little better.):

That slat armour looks great under a coat of paint. And the figure is impressive too. Looks like ACU camo to me. Is the belt of .50 cal ammo photoetch? Also will there be any stowage added?

i agree with jubelum the slats are cool.
BTW do you use oils for your figures that would explain the "shinyness" of them.
i believe you havent painted the sandbags yet or they'd be yellow-ish brown?
overall nice build mate.

Morning guys!
Matthew: Yes, the .50 Cal rounds are photo etch. They were extra's that i had in my spares box. As for stowage, it's coming and all the belts that hold it down too.
Charles: Your right about the flash. When I take the final pictures of the completed model, i will use the proper lighting and camera settings. I took these late last night.
Erik: I used olis for the skin of course and for the rest, I used Vallejo paints. For the bas color, I used #986 Deck Tan, the first "green: color was a mix of #886 Green Grey and a little bit of #845 (the color name scratched off the bottle), and the last darker "green" color is a mix of #888 Olive Grey and the #845.
jubelum: I got the idea from one of the other members but for the life of me can't remember his call sign(if anyone knows who this is, let me know so i can give the proper credit for the idea). But to answer your question, I used an old #10/0 brush and cut the hairs down. I just dipped the brush in the paint and stippled it on the figure to create the blotches. At 1/35th it looks close to the pixel pattern it is supposed to be.
ollie: The sand bags are close to the correct color for modern type bags as you can see from the pictures. Thanks for looking out though.

Looking good, Pete--I really like the ACU pattern and the way you've shaded the Stryker. Can't wait to see it finished.
Looking at the last photo you posted, I noticed that two or three of the sandbags seem to be in a different color (looks like a tan color). Replicating that on your Stryker might break up the solid green you currently have.

DJ, The TC got his TDY orders and is on his way to Ft. Benning to earn his Ranger tab!
Lucas, that sounds like a good idea because thereare tan bags as well.

I like the technique you used for the ACU. I might try it for CADPAT, although the black and brown in that pattern may not work so well. On the subject of colours, what kind of paint/colour did you use for the Stryker itself?

Trevor,
I used Tamiya NATO Green for the base color then mixed the NATO Green with some Tamiya Buff to lighten it and did the shading. I use Vallejo paints t pick out all the small details.
