Happy New Years Everyone!!
As part of my New Years resolutions I plan to go back and actually finish some of those "projects" I've asked questions about in the past. One such project was the Tamiya Challenger 2. As I've gotten close to painting mine (after blowing off the dust!) I started to wonder if all current units were fielding the Bar Armor mods as a standardized kit. Anyone know if this is true? And with regards to the Accurate Armours conversion can I still use it if I already completed the model? Not looking forward to that price though, whew!!!
Thanks In Advance!!
Kurt
The answer is NO. Sorry.
The reactive blocks on the newer sets of Armour are different entirely to the ones used in the invasion, so losing the dust skirts won't help you at all. You will have to remove ALL the reactive blocks and mounting points.
You should also get a set of the newer, stronger wheels with holes in them, (see my model below).
You will find that these close defence kits are held in a depot location and are issued on a 'need to have' basis such as Iraq.
If the British see themselves back in the Balkans, then yes they would be worn by the Challenger 2's IF they are deployed.
Of course you will and do see some on those 'kitted out' Challengers in and around the RAC center at Bovington and Lulworth.
I have made this conversion and enjoyed it very much.
Keith.
