Hi Guys, about to start Tamiya`s Chieftan kit and went to look for stuff on the net, also bought the Osprey New Vanguard book on the subject.
On the Accurate Armour website they slate this kit as being totaly inaccurate, yet as i read through the book it looks to me more like a mark 2 not a mark 5 as on the box.As i want to build this out of the box(i can`t afford the AM stuff from AA)i was wondering if i could get any help from you guys to help me along.

It's not a Mark 2, as it has dual headlights on each side of the glacis. The kit is simplified (particularly the mountings for the bazooka shields), but not as bad as all that. The MAFVA website has a detailed tweaks list for correcting the Tamiya Chieftain.

It is not a Mk 3 either, it is a basic Mk 2 with some portions of the 'Totem Pole' upgrades added.
Most were automotive improvements and sighting systems. The final version of the Mk 2 with all 'Totem Pole' upgrades completed produces a Mk 6. A production Mk 3 did not come off the production line with dual lights, they were added during Totem Pole. Production Mk 3's after Totem Pole became Mk 7's.
