Well, I've gotten a base coat of paint and a few layering coats to add some color depth.
My fear is that I've gotten it to brown. I am depicting a SE Asia/Burma road. When I see these photos I think I need it to be red.
What do you all think?

Scott
That`s a real nice road dude your dio is coming quite good together..
As far as the basecolor of your road I don`t think it`s to brown.. In my opinion it looks like the kind of soil that you often see in those countries...... But I`m not really a big soil expert so my vote in this won`t be that worthy but it looks good in my eyes.
Further I really love the tyre tracks in the soil. They give your road a bit the idea that it`s a scene in the middle of the rainperiod in Burma or something like that and now you get those swampy roads with this sticky and slippery mud..
Great job so far and I can`t wait for the water to be finished

Scott,
I agree, the color looks good to me (for that erea) and I must say that the "wet'' look is very convincing, I would not want to drive on that slippery road

great hunk of dirt ya got there. I don't think the color is an issue. The color can vary a severaltimes by just going a few yards one way or the other or digging deeper. I live in Texas and have seen them digging up an area for a building and there are three colors of soil.

I apprecieate the complements and the opinions on the color. I am movin' on. Time to go and paint my civilian.

Nice terrain Slodder!
One thing that could be done with the ground is to add some variation in there. Anything. Some different coloured spots, natural debris (for me the most difficult thing!), rocks, pieces of vegetation...
I´m not a geologist either but I dare to claim that you just can´t find a generic-looking terrain ANYWHERE in the nature...or if you do, you´re not looking close enough...
It looks really good as it is, with a little "something" it would be even better!
Keep it up,
Toni

Just a thought, but if the road is that wet and muddy, would the ruts not be deeper?
