I painted my M163 in a winter MERDC scheme and now face a small dilemma...how do I do the wash? Do I just use a regular black/burnt sienna wash or do I do something different? I fear that this may be similar to the problem of painting white winter overcoats and making them look realistic.

I think I would skip the wash and just try to weather the lower areas to show the whitewash wearing off/being affected by the snow

my recomendation is to use future floor polish instead of water for your wash. Care needs to be taken as it is a wax, but you will get a nice blending effect over the whole model, and this works VERY well with white washes. Make sure you highlight BEFORE you use the wash...It takes a little getting used to, but works out very well.
