Hi all,
this is the first one of 2008, yep, its another sherman, i was saving this conversion for the new tasca kit, but I cant get one ( for a sensible price ) anywhere in this country, so I used the DML op cobra sherman, I will be changing the turret, to the A-34 version, and a few little details on the hull, and the tracks have been changed.

all comments most welcome, more to follow as I do them

Looks great! I told Rob Ervin @ Formations he should do some Engineering Shermans for us Shermaholics. I think I remember seeing some pix with the push plate mounted towards the LHS instead of centered as well.

Keep it up!

Malcolm-- very nice. Complicated kit to assemble, but your work is encouraging me. Why did you drill out the tool set locations on the hull?

Chris: I'm pretty familiar with photos of the T1E3 rig and am not aware of any off-center rear pusher plate. The tech manual shows a definite central locaton.

Can you recall where you might have seen it? Thnx

Roy,
I can't recall where I saw it - I am at work right now, let me see if I can dig it up, I want to say it was in the Natl archive stuff. It could also be that the original was damaged ? and it was replaced....

Hi Malc: Given that the big hatch M4A1 would have been the last 75mm gun tanks made on the cast hull, you might be better off using the later turret -- like the ones in the Tamiya M4A3 kits. Just add the thickened cheek.

Here's a pic of mine in progress

Malcom-- appreciate the response. I am still mystified as to why they drilled the tool tie down points. The model is looking good and I trust we can see more shots of her coming together.
thanks

Nice work Malc!
Never bitten the bullet on a mine roller expedient. Yours is looking great, no small feat considering the detail one can see in your quality photos...
Don't forget the plug holders on the front brushguards!
Cheers

Hi Roy,
sorry to bother you, just a few questions about my mine roller.
1. I have changed the turret to a Tamiya one, do I still need the pistol port fitting on the side, as I understand, some turrets did not have them fitted.

2.I will be fitting applique armour on the hull sides, 2 on the right side, 1 on the left, were these welded on, or where they cast into the hull, on your photo, looks like its been cast in.

many thanks for any help.

cheers mate,
malc.

Hi Malc: I'm pretty sure you need to include the left side pistol port. Add the cheek armor:

As for the hull applique, the last dry hulls had them cast in.
