This Jeep has been laying around alone and sad, like incomplete kits do, for too long but it was only lacking a matt coat, some pigments and a base! I planned to make a more complex base, like a small vignette, but from time to time I need to get something finished or else this hobby stops making sense. Therefore I decided to end this piece and move on to another subject.

Some in-progress shots:

The detail work was done with copper wire, stretched sprue, Evergreen and Magic Sculpt for the tent rolls. The net is just a rolled piece of mosquito curtain but I believe it works for this scale. Wheels and wooden box came from Airfix kit. Magic Sculpt works very well, you just need to spread it really thin with your x-acto handle lubricated with a bit of liquid vaseline or kitchen oil (like you use water for Milliput), cut a square and roll it to make that kind of tent roll, then you just need to make some folds with a toothpick, for example.
The paint job was done with Tamiya an Humbrol paints, sealed with floor wax, washed with oils, sealed with Modelmaster Flat Lacquer and dirtied with Mig pigments and chalk pastels. Nothing fancy and pretty straight forward. Some minor chipping was done with an 8B pencil (soft and dark).

Some photos of the finished work:

I'm still thinking about adding a figure after I came across IMEX Easy Company box on www.plasticsoldierreview.com :

That soldier with the gun on his soldier would look good...

Some reenactment photos for extra-motivation:

This Jeep build was highly influenced by Band of Brothers series so a little soldier would be the cherry on top of the cake..

Thanks for looking and happy modeling,

Francisco

Very nice indeed!

I must admit though, I am not a fan of bare varnished bases. My personal preference is for a little bit of groundwork to compliment the model.

However, my personal preference well aside, I do like the detailing you have done, especially the radio aerial, nice touch.

Cheers

Francisco, that is a splendid looking little model.
Would you care to elaborate on your approach to weathering? I really like the look!

great build! The added brass wire details are quite good and those airfix wheels definitely improve the academy jeep.
Did you sculpt those knapsacks on the side?
This is one of the best braille scale jeep I've seen ever.

Great job - especially considering the scale. You should be proud of this one.

Excellent work in this scale!

I cant imagine how difficult that steering wheel must have been to form, I'd have a job in 1/35!

Great work, one to be proud of!

Thank you all for your kind words, I really appreciate it

The haversacks came from Calibre72 since I wasn't satisfied with the ones I had previously sculpted with Magic Sculpt.

In terms of weathering, the base coat of Tamiya Olive Drab+Desert Brown was lightened with Tamiya Buff, particularly on the undersides and around the lower areas of the body. Everything was sealed with floor wax (our equivalent to Future), and washed with oils like Burnt Umber, Raw Umber and Burnt Sienna. This was left to dry for a couple of days and the received a coat of Modelmaster Flat Lacquer which gives a really matt finish! Then some European Earth pigment from Mig Productions was applied with a nš2 brush here and there, in conjunction with lighter dust tones I mixed from dry pastel chalks I have around. During the photo shoot I decided to add some minor chipping with and 8B pencil, which is dark enough and quite soft to apply..

Hope this helps, any question please do ask!

Cheers

An impressive finish on this one, especially considering the scale.
