Aloha everyone!!!
I've been searching through pictures I have, mainly from Concord books I have on the Afghanistan theatre, and was wondering if the same figure set DML released of the "Desert Rats" in 1/35th scale can be used as the troops depicting those in the current conflict (again mainly in Afghanistan)? Or is the uniform used in DML kit outdated much like the US "Chocolate Chip" uniforms also used during Desert Storm? Sometimes they look the same, sometimes not.
Thank You in Advance!!!
Kurt

The uniforms today are different than the ones used during the initial invasion of Iraq. I would be interested in this information and what figures to use for British Forces in Iraq, having just seen the Diorama El- Alamein's Grandsons on this site.

Hi Kurt
The figures in the Dragon kit are wearing NBC suits. This unfortunately limits them somewhat for use either during the initial invasion of Iraq or use as NBC soldiers from the joint NBC regiment.
@Cookie, looking at 'Grandsons of El Alamein' I have a feeling that most of the figures used by Nick are from accurate armour and have been modifed with new arms and heads. I Hope this helps. Nick

The uniforms are virtually the same now as in 2003, well as close as in 1/35th scale. If you're modelling without armour then the shirt has no shoulder epaulettes but one on the front for rank. If armour is worn then it'll be either the new Kestrel or Osprey armour which isn't a far cry from US IBA. Not very often that you see combat arms wearing CBA if at all now.
Kestrel
Osprey
They look very similiar and in fact are but Kestrel comes with all the add on neck and shoulder protaection and is heavier and designed for mounted troops where as osprey is for Infantrymen.

Thank you all for your help! Unforturnately, and I do sincerely apologize, as I am not up to speed on variances of uniform types would it be safe to say the best place to start may be with a US OIF figure? Or how's about the CMK offerings of their "Modern British Troop" sets 1,2 and 3? Once more I am sorry for my naviete.
Thank you in advance

Kurt I think that with the dml desert rats , the Tamiya JGSDF Inf. set & bit of daring to try some minor modifications you could come up with a nice result .I´ve got some photos in my member gallery of the two Verlinden sets that are only appropriate for ODS ,nice figures but a bit on the large side I think.
