Well, Guys...
This is my new project:
Ram Mk II OP
My kit was made by Formations Models, in 1/35 scale...represents this specific beast:
I love the British Commonwealth tanks and the Ram it´s one of my favorites...
Well...the kit is this:
F062 Ram II OP Conversion
plus this parts:
Three piece transmission cover plus Riveted Sherman lower hull:
The riveted lower hull is super...
As the tranny-cover, with awesome casting-numbers...
And talking about fidelity, I was simply amazed with quality of details and finish of the Formation´s kit...
FANTASTIC!!! This is the definition!!!
Well, let´s go:
The kit recommends the use the Tamiya´s M4, but as I have the Formation´s tranny-cover and lower hull, I will save one kit.
The instructions recommends the M4 Tamiya's bogies with Formations parts, but I used some bogies of my spare parts box. The M4A1 Dragon´s kit 6048 bogies ( I buy the M3 Lee style bogies, to build my M4A1 as early type) are exact the one of the Ram Mk II, without needing to use the Formations bogie resin parts:
The bogies under construction:
Time to build the hull:
Minor adjusts and filler...
Installing the bogies:
Cutting a Dragon´s pin in the bogie, to adapt in the Formations bogie plate:
and...
Adjust the adjustable Idler Wheel Brackets (ops...): I used my sand-paper table to do this:
and:
Another contribuition of my spare-parts box: the front wheels of the Italeri´s M4A1:
Some details added. Note the dummie gun and fixed mantlet...
Turret and hatch details. Awesome details...
I missing my rear cables hooks...Time to scratch:
and the Ram, growing in good company:
Well, Lads...For now, there this...more details soon...
a hug

Marcos-- superb! I built the Formation Ram Badger and also was amazed at the quality of the Formation kits. If you have any questions on the kit or the original, Formation responds quickly and accurately. Very good company to deal with. Your work is marvelous. Waiting for more on the paint job.
Good luck.

Hi MArcos,
Great work so far on the RAM. The Formations kit looks excellent. Kevin T and Derek B have both done excellent models on it. I have their M4 and M4A4 DV hulls sitting awaiting build and I really enjoyed doing their M4A1 DV, Kit was great to work with and I'm not a resin fan.
Look forward to seeing more.
Cheers

Marcos,
Yuo're a bit too far along for this to be of use to you, but others may benefit. You've replaced the kit headlight guards with round wire, but if yo look closely at the phots, you can see thatt hey really are made from flat bar stock and shouldn't be round at all. Anyone doing this for their own Ram kit should use something like .005" brass shim stock about .040" wide to make these guards. Similarly, the cross brace is of the same material with is attached by folded tabs and not butt welded to the main guard.. They attach to the tops of the transmission cover bulges with small folded tabs at the bottom of the guards and not to the rod that you can see in the second photo. In fact, the guard supports the rod and not the other way around.

Paul do you have a pick of the light guards, I'm almost persuaded by Marcos's build to buy this kit.

Hey Marcos,
Yeah, let's hope Formations keep the Canadian vehicles coming.
I hope they produce the early hull configuration Mk. I and Mk. II's with the side hull hatches, hull MG turret and 2pdr or 6pdr cannon.
A Kangaroo would be welcome too.
Here's hoping.

Hey Marcos,
The Ram Mk. I had the British 2 pounder (40mm) cannon mounted and the Mk. II had the British 6 pounder (57mm) cannon.
Here's a link that shows the vehicle's development:
http://www.ramtank.ca/
After WW II, the surviving Rams in Europe were handed off to countries like Holland and some had their 6 pdr guns replaced with British 75mm guns like those mounted on the Cromwell or Churchill tanks.
Here's a photo of a early Mk. II with the 6 pdr outside of the British Columbia Regiment's Armoury here in Vancouver:
http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2048818770092933776cyDNQn
I love the hullside hatches and the MG turret.
Cheers
