Loks pretty good. The only thing is, the tree looks like it should be on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Pretty cool looking base. I do like it a lot. I also agree with Al, the tree doesn't quite fit the bocage. I would add a touch of volume to the the clumps of the tree, or change the location, or don't give it one.

Good job on the base. I know what you guys mean about the tree, but it could work in the bacage.
Lets see it with the Priest on it

Hey guys it is only a snapshot of the hedges
I think the tree looks great as does the rest of the vegitation. Put a phot backdrop of some other trees and bushes and that would bulk the picture up. It is one of those hard decisions does the vegitation overpower the scene or is it too little.
If he were showing the thickness of the bocage would that distract from the vehicle.

You know - if you have photos to support the tree then go for it. Photos trump my memory any day. The updated photos look good.
I like the shot from behind the bushes.
Be careful with natural posing of the figures. If the guy on the right of the M7 was really walking in the bushes he's just gone over his feet would not be in such an even relaxed position. His right leg would be bent a bit more drastically. You can easly move him either toward the M7 or into the right of the clearing he is in.

Bastian, I think it looks just fine as an interpretation of a typical Normandy hedge row.
I've always had a stereotypical vision of Normandy hedge rows as impassable vegetation breaks.
Normandy hedge rows are 100 yr. or more old cultivated windbreaks for fields
Tree growth was pruned of most or all branches and left with one or two " stalks " called a sap riser. This promoted new growth around the base and gave the impentratable effect of the hedge row. I've seen ref. pics. of said impenetratable hedge rows and also some not so.
I think you've done a wonderful job on your build, I like the tree very much and also see why it dosen't look hegde rowey enough, but then again as mentioned a massive hedge row would take away from your main focus.

hedgerow come and hedgrows go. none are the same as prunning by different farmers and years would show the difference.remember that not only man has artistic license to change but mother nature does even better. as a wind break and natural fence, it would be subject to being shaped by the wind also. go for it. looks good to me. dioman13

Alone the base didn’t look right to me, but with the Priest and figures it looks better.

ACK- The attack of the headless infantry--- the horror-the horror!
Shaping up nicely so far.
I like the tree, sure looks better than any tree I have ever tired to make.

I like it...think it looks pretty good, nice placement of the Priest and figures...can just imagine some close order fighting that's about to happen. Wow!
Looking forward to seeing it completed. Thanks for sharing your progress. Cheers!

Hi,
I think your base looks real good. Still I also think the scene doesn't really look like a Normandy scene....It's got more the feeling of say a Mediterranean scene with the light sand and the tree
So. I really like the scene, but if I'd see it without a nameplate I'd say it's a Mediterranean scene!

Id be inclined to agree.
A great base but the soil is to light for normandy, tone it down and you could get away with it.
