Hello, I got the tamiya 1/48 3251 german infantry set. Are they smaller than they should be?

I do not have this set, but I did buy the US Infantry set in order to use some of the weapons in conjunction with the Monogram figures from the C-47 kit.
The figures were noticeably smaller than those in the Monogram kit, so I did a little measuring and found that they scaled out to slightly below average height. When compared to to Bandai US figures they looked the same. The Monogram figures may be too large, (they scaled out to be almost 6 feet tall, allowing for the helmet) but in my own estimation, the Tamiya weapons were in better proportion with them.
I'm sure someone out there will get his panties in a wad about me posting on a product I have not purchased myself, but perhaps you'll find this useful anyway.

Simple enough to check. In 1/48th scale, a six foot man stands 1.5 inches tall. Six feet was considered tall in the 1940's (before the advent of vitamin-fortified everything), so they should be a little less than that. However, Tamiya's 1/35th scale figures have usually tended toward Japanese stature even for European subjects (many older figures scale out at just 5'6" or 5'7"), so I would not be surprised if the 1/48th scale figures are the same.

Thanks for getting back to me 18 bravo and g owens. I checked the figures with my calipers and the newer molds wich are a few of the tank commanders circa 1990s are 1.5 inches, the older molds infantry circa 1970s are 1.35-1.46 with helmets. This proves I need to get a scale ruler. Thank you so much . If you didnt know all 1/48 figures from tamiya are just shrunken 1/35 figures.
