Here are some updates of the work so far. I decided to leave it Dark yellow. There are still a few items that need to be painted on the tank but I will get to them soon. The figures will be the next thing to be painted, then after that the base will get started. Thanks everyone.
The first pics of the panzer are just in the base coat with the figures.
Here are a few shots of the tank with weathering and a piece of rock road.
Let me know if there is anything that you see! More to come soon.

Hi Robert
I think your panzer IV has turn out very nice.dont know why you have had a lack of feedback as i cant seem anything wrong with your model.
maybe wait till you have added the decals and painted your figures then repost your pictures as a diorama.
Dont be put off and finish your panzer IV and show us the final pictures.
good luck.

Hi Robert,
Sometimes a post can be overlooked, especially if there is a lot of posting going on. Sometimes people look, but are hesitant to comment, because the model is not yet finished. Sometimes people are just downright rude, and can't be bothered... .
Looking good so far, but I would possibly offer one observation, and that is that the chipping around the edges could be toned down a little bit. This is a matter of taste, and if you like it, and it is the effect that you were after, just ignore me. Personally I like to see the chipping more subtle.
Looking forward to see more progress, especially the crew.
Cheers
Henk

Hey thanks guys once the tank is finished the chipping will be toned down with the last bit of weathering. The other thing was thinking of was going with no markings? I know that alot of times tanks were missing the markins so .... I might go with out them for once..Thanks

Well, I hadn't seen this until now, but I like it very much. The tracks are very nicely done as is the over all weathering job.
Looks like a very nice clean build. Can't wait to see the figures.

Your Pz IV is looking good so far. Are you going to do some washes and some fading? I like your idea of no markings.

I think it really looks nice. I'd say a bit more weathering, dirty up the tracks a bit, etc.
I'd go with markings...this type of Panzer IV was a mid war vehicle. I'd say the later in the war, the less chance of fancy markings. So I'd go with turret numbers, divisional signs, etc.
But that's just me.
Looking great so far...
Rob

The last little bit of weathering will include some fading of the paint....I do need to add some dirt and grime to the tracks with a hint of rust...Thanks for reminding me.. As far as decals I am not sold yet...It would be proper to have them but....you know. Thanks everyone...

Man, I just cannot resist these Pz IV's, what a great looking vehicle!
This is looking real good, Robert. I think the tracks look great, especially if this is the base you will use. If you go with decals now, I would think they would be hard to weather to match what you have done already. It would be hard for me, anyway.
IMO, a pin wash around the details would really bring everything out, and maybe a little more grime on the lower hull. Paint looks great and i love the wear and tear.
Looking forward to more.

I like it just the way it is.
Nice job on the paint and the crew will do it even better.
You are right it is a tough crowd here.
Excellent job on the tracks as matches very good to the Road they are on.
Will keep on eye on this one.

I think it looks great Rob, but where are the markings, I reckon you should have gone with some, even if they were small.
Great work, I like the dunklegelb with the panzergrau chips, looks great
Cheers,
James

I love it. How exactly are the chips accomplished? Is it simply gray paint painted freehand?

Robert -
All of your pics look fantastic. Like the way your chip's came out, good dusting on the tracks and lower hull area. Thanks for sharing your work.
Cheers!

The paint chips are nothing crazy.....All i used was a tooth pick and some good ol german grey. The only thing to remember is to be random when painting them...Also paint them were they should be....handels, places that people would be getting up and down, sharp edges, etc....Then to add some depth to them I use a mixture of orange and black pastels, followed by the a mixture of brown and black.....Looks good to the eye anyway. Thanks everyone for looking and happy building

First of all that is a great job. I am new to this so I might be asking a dumb question. But, here goes. I noticed the spare tracks are mounted in the first pictures. Later they are painted. Did you remove the spare tracks paint them and put them back on ?
Thanks
Ed

No that is not a dumb question! I always put the whole tank together then paint it. Ya it takes alittle more time because you have to be careful, but in the end the model will look better I think. Then you dont have to worry about glue getting on everything and messing up the paint job. Just what I do i am sure there are other people who do it the other way. Happy building!

Looks real nice. This tank looks good in a yellow coat with some rusty scars. I think you captured the essence of this vehicle very nicely.

OK, don't hate me as this is meant to be constructive criticism...
The tanker uniforms are the wrong color: either solid black (until mid/late1943) or camouflaged (late war.) Green is for SPG crews, including Stug's.

The above guy is right and a good catch also.
Nice job all over think it came out great.
One thing I might do is maybe some scratches on the lower hull and wheels.
Have not seen many armor tanks but i think most of the beating would be low.
Tankers would know better I guess.
