aunt jemima question

Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the great responses, I will keep you posted as I go along, once agian, thanks to Roy Chow for all his help with the correct add ons needed for the hull and turret.
The picture Im using to base this on is in Steve Zaloga`s book of U S armoured funnies, and the tank has a picture painted on the hull of an Auntie called Jemmima, 1+2.
I want to put this on the side of the hull of my model, just my hand painting aint that good, any suggestions from the masters?
cheers,
malc.

Hi Malcolm, I'm no master, but you may want to try making a template from the real thing. If you have a straight-on photo of the tank in question, then keep reducing the photo and test printing, until you have the proper scale, then make a template out of mylar or some similar material then spray away.
If you don't have a straight-on photo you'll have to freehand on to the mylar.
Good luck and let us see the results

Malcolm,
I'll base this on the assumption that 1 Aunt Jemima is the American icon (elderly black woman with big friendly smile and checkered "do rag" tied on her head)and 2 you have the software and a printer to do what I suggest. Google a picture of Aunt Jemima and save to image editing software. Then use printer set up to reduce the saved image to the size you need it to be, or as close as you can get it. Then print a couple of takes and cut as a square and use the old "lick and stick" to adhere to the hull. If it looks good then print as a decal and do the deed for real when ready to put it on the model. I almost forgot but you may need to edit the text from around the image to get just the image only.

Hi Malcolm: I love that Zaloga book (US Armored Funnies). A problem you'll run into is that the two T1E3 pilots (with Aunt Jemima painted on the hulls) are different than your model. They are small-hatch M4A1s (with cast in applique) -- like the model I'm building.
One peculiarity: they have the two hatch, high bustle turret (like the one you placed on your kit). These weren't generally seen with the small hatch M4A1s.

oops
Maybe I`ll give that particular sherman a miss.
The reason i wanted to use that model hull was its the best one out there at the moment, I was going to hold on till i got a tasca model M4A1, but we cant get them in this country, so i used what I had, which is why I put the armour on the hull sides, and on the turret, once agian Roy, you have stopped me from making a right balls up, It may not be AUNT JEMMIMA, but it is a sherman with an aunt jemmima fitted and it could have been workable combination
