I am going crazy without this site. First it won't load, and then it takes forever to load.
Will it ever go away!?

Jim told that site will be OK soon...if you use http://64.226.43.136/index.php instead of https://armorama.kitmaker.net,you will have no problems nowadays.

I posted the #s http link on RMS or rec.models.scale so some of the users who have been asking me where Armorama went to can find their way here. "Latest Posts" has been the shortest I've ever seen it.

Ditto here, and the s l o w s p e e d doesn't make it very attractive to visit via IP-address either....

I'm no longer kept logged in, or auto-logged in with the new address. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't notice any difference in the site speed, except a lot of images/buttons appear with the evil x-stop sign.

The site is actually temorarily resolving thru http://www.wanderingknights.com. I think part of the slowdown is the fact that the ad banner images are not able to load because the armorama.com url is hard-coded into the image location. ooops

I am in contact with the tech dept at Interland and hopefully will get this DNS crap worked out soon. It may take 24-48 hrs before it works itself out to all your individual Internet Providers though.

My apologies. It was going so smoothly until this.

I know first hand how hard it can be to move from one server to another so I'm hangin' in there patiently waiting.
Personally if I know you're on it then that's all I need.

Chip (and Jim), I have found that the site loads a whole lot faster when yiou delete your cookies, or at least the Armorama one. This means you have to browse without signing in, but it is as quick as ever. After I browse, I note which posts I want to respond to, then sign in to reply. It takes about a minute for each page to load after I sign in.

Rob,
Hmm...I will take a look at that. Might also have something to do with being on an IP (or wk.com) rather than the normal domain.

Thanks,
Jim

PS: I spoke with Interland. They showed me that "InterNic" (the government site managing all the domains) shows the wrong DNS servers. So DirectNic is apparently the culprit. Hopefully they will update this info in tonights routines. Else I will call and lady them out tomorrow, not that I think that will do much good.

As soon as someone sees the site correctly resolving at https://armorama.kitmaker.net please post something here.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks Jim

Seems to be working now and the regular 'Armorama' URL seems to be fine.

Might still be a bit slow though, or it could be my connection...

Yup...working for me now too. And I am finally getting mail to boot.

The slow speeds may be due to this new server. It's not suppose to be better than the old one, just equal. Although I can see how some of our overseas users might see a slight performance increase as the site is located in Atlanta which may be better connected to Europe and elsewhere than other locals in the US. Atlanta is like the hub for everything.

Don't fret though. The dedicated server upgrade is coming soon.

Cheers,
Jim

Well I still have to get in by the IP address....but it logs me in as me....so its all the same to me....speed didn't really change at all....not sure why the website address doesn't work....but since I am up here in the Great White North of Canada....well not really.....in New Brunswick....we always get new stuff last!!!! LOL

I'm able to get on using the URL and not the IP but it's still slow a molasses in winter and I can ONLY do it from home. At work I can't get on period, URL or IP both just lock up my system to the point I have to close the browser and start over.

I suppose it's possible they've done something at work to prevent my going onto the site but it hasn't effected any other site I go to.

Sorry

I wasn't able to get on the site all week. After a long wait, I'd get that "page cannot be displayed" thing. Then I'd hit reload and wait, and maybe after a very long time something would come up, maybe not.

site is running like greased lightining for me. I'm on the east coast and no problems here.....

oh yes I should mention i'm on a 960K downstream DSL line so that might have something to do with it.
