I was going to do a feature with this one, but decided to just post it. Having some difficulties loading pics for some reason, but Photobucket is working fine....go figure. Finshed this one a couple of days ago. Added some anti skid material to the front deck along with some reflective material for the periscopes. I used mig pigmnets on it and didn't like the results so I went back and re-hashed it trying to tone it down some. A little better in my eyes, but still not 100% to my liking. My Tamiya Leo2A5 and A6 will be considerably cleaner....when I build it. Thanks for looking, comments welcome. "Q"

Lower hull was a breeze. No issues at all. The turret on the other hand took a little more time and patience. I had to tear it apart twice as I could not seem to get the frontal armor to line up correctly. Lots of angles, and shapes here. If I had to do it over again, I would just slow down and test fit everything as I went along. That was my problem on the first go round and I paid for it Tracks are too short which causes them to buckle going around the sprockets. I fixed this by gluing one end to the bottom of the sponson, wrapping it around the roadwheels and idler, then gluing the other end down to the sponson. They need to be about another 1"-1.5" long. The skirts hide them so no biggee in my book. Overall, its a nice kit. Can't comment on accuracy, but based on the pics I have of them, it looks like a Leo to me Thanks for the kudos. "Q"

ps. And you have lots of extra parts left over for use on other things, which I thought was cool.

Hello Matthew,
I think it looks quite nice! I have heard that the HobbyBoss Leo's are quite a challenge. It seems you have mastered this one quite well. One quick question, what are the boxes on the sides of the turret? Remind me of the stereooptical range finders on the M-60's, I hope I got that right. My friend was a TC on the 60A3 and I believe thats what he called them when we went to Fort Knox.

Best Wishes,
Walter

Looks great to me Matthew, but I like heavy weathering though ;d

I was wondering if could be possible to kitbash EX bits of the Hobbyboss kit into a Tamiya Leopard 2A6?

Cheers

Those are the smoke grenade launchers. You get a couple different set ups in the box and this was the one called for in the "Destructions". They kinda look like little ears to me

Couldn't say for certain, but I imagine its possible. I'll look over my Tamiya kits and this one and see what I can come up with.

Very nice build Matt. I like this tank with its add-on armor. I prefer the Swedish camo though. (yes the gun is not the long barrelled one). The engine grilles looks like they were PE parts.

I did'nt know the Germans had the 2A6EX in their arsenal. To me EX stands for export and to my knowledge only the Spanish Army got some.
Please stand me corrected anyone who knows.

Super build. I also like the weathering job. Thanks for sharing.

I also like the last shot. The lines of that cat are beautiful.

Based on the pics I have found online and with what is called for in the instructions, the kit seems to be a hybrid. German markings on a non-German variant, but I could be wrong. I like the look they have with the long gun tubes, the smoke grenade covers, and extended bussle rack or boxes (take your pick). Either way I like it as it is different. Will probably pick up the Strv-122 sometime this week to add to the arsenal. Thanks for kudos all. "Q"
