Hi, this is my first post here but I have a question and thought this would be a great place to ask. As Creighton Abrams had a Thunderbolt VII, I have to assume there was an original "Thunderbolt" as well. Does anyone have any info on any of his Shermans other than VI and VII?
Thanks, I look forward to being part of the group!

As far as anyone knows, he had three in the ETO.
Thunderbolt V (M4)
Thunderbolt VI (M4A3 76w)
Thunderbolt VII (M4A3 76w HVSS)
His other Thunderbolts were apparently stateside training tanks.
There are pics of all three in the Osprey book "US Army Tank Crewman". Also, the same pic of Thunderbolt V appears in the biography of Abrams by Lewis Sorley called Thunderbolt.
Dragon got the decals wrong in both the A3 and A3 HVSS kits. They called Thunderbolt VI Thunderbolt IV (easy enough to fix by cutting the decal and putting the "I" after the "V"), but the lightning bolts should face forward on BOTH sides, and they do not. Same mistake on Thunderbolt VII.

Rob,
Thanks for the answers! Perhaps our friends at Tasca will include Thunderbolt V as a markings option in their upcoming M4 (hope, hope, hope !)

The decals for Thunderbolt V were on an old, now I believe out of production, set of Verlinden dry transfers. I have a set and hope they are still good (had them a few years now).
Let me know if you need more info....I'm by no means an expert, but plan to build all 3 at some point before I die!

Pat,
I WISH! Actually I'm just sort of assuming considering the M4A1 and the fact that the brass fret in it says "M4/M4A1", but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!
